Why did Pope John Paul II write the Encyclical Letter
Ecclesia de Eucharistia and declared a new Year of the
Eucharist in 2004-2005?
* Why did the Vatican Congregation for the Divine Worship
issue the Instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum, which
includes specific norms to correct liturgical abuses
regarding the Mass and the Eucharist?
* Why the Australian Bishops’ conference published a
collective pastoral letter on the Eucharist?
Wasn’t because a great many Catholics are, by and large,
losing the Faith in the Real Presence?
Sadly
but truly, many church-goers today view the Eucharist as
nothing more than an item in a liturgical service; a “pious
symbol”, or a “sacred thing”, at best. But no longer the
Real Presence of Jesus Christ among us in His Body, blood,
soul and Divinity!
More and more Catholics lose the faith in the Real
Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. And yet Jesus Himself
tells us that unless we eat His Flesh and drink His blood we
shall have no life in us! (Jn 6:54).
When Catholics cease to believe in the Real Presence of
Jesus in the consecrated host, Faith is at its death throes.
And the death of the Faith is a catastrophe fraught with
consequences for eternity.
Sadly enough, less and less parents grieve when they see
their children losing the faith in the Eucharist, depriving
themselves of the infinite benefits of holy Communion – or,
god forbid – endangering their salvation through
sacrilegious communions…
Surely they have not given up on their children’s faith
and eternal salvation!
The Marian
Eucharistic Alliance is an initiative of Saint Gabriel
Communications, Australia’s first – and so far, only
– international apostolate to promote Catholic apologetics.
Through
the Marian Eucharistic Alliance, a growing number of Catholics make a
commitment to Our Lord Jesus Christ Jesus, Our Lady and the
Holy Father, to promote the knowledge, love and service of
the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament; to
bring back to Eucharistic devotion the souls that already
belong to the Church; to rekindle the Faith in the Real
Presence among lukewarm Catholics; to proclaim the Real
Presence of Jesus in our tabernacles among unbelievers; to
offer reparation for the insults, sacrileges and
indifference with which He is offended; and to work towards
the recovery of the Sense of the Sacred that has been lost
in so many places.
Through the Alliance, Catholics are
empowered to understand, proclaim and defend the sound
doctrine on the Real Presence!
